人工智能和机器学习作为现今社会不可或缺的一部分,为人类社会带来了极大的便利以及商业价值。自动驾驶,图像识别,语音识别,多语翻译等技术都离不开人工智能和机器学习。在2019年胡润全球独角兽榜中,人工智能行业拥有40家独角兽数量,占总市值5%。现今机器学习和人工智能的发展,让人们更加期待未来的世界。Siri,小度,天猫精灵等都逐渐走进人们的生活。我们生活在 AI 发展的第三次浪潮中,算法的更替,模型的变化往往都是日新月异。这节课将从机器学习的基础—线性回归开始,逐渐涉及到支持向量机并且结合Python来完成一些应用。在课程的最后,会涉及到卷积神经网络(CNN)和递归神经网络(RNN)的基本原理以及这些是如何改变我们的生活。

近年来人工智能已经辐射到了各行各业,对领域保持关注的你可能早已尝试过自己学习、完成研究项目。然而,诸如 PyTorch 和 Tensorflow 等高度封装的深度学习框架经过这几年的发展已经十分成熟,使得人们能够在将深度学习模型当做一个“黑箱”的情况下快速上手,完成多种多样的深度学习任务,却难知其所以然。本课程正是面向不满足于“拿来主义”,对机器学习算法背后的原理有着强烈兴趣和热忱的学员设计的。课程难度将与卡内基梅隆大学深度学习课程接轨,内容包含学界前沿的论文文献分析与应用。课程分为数理基础回顾、Python 编程基础、通用机器学习和深度学习四个部分,按时间顺序带领大家领略机器学习理论的变迁,同时部分内容可穿插并行讲授。

在生物学、物理学等领域,基于数据的量化研究方法已经深入学科的核心。然而,在社会科学领域,由于人和社会交往中体现的出的极端复杂性,量化方法的发展相对缓慢。然而,随着大数据、人工智能等技术的发展,和社会行为数据的大量产生,一个新兴交叉学科“计算社会科学”兴起了。作为一个新兴的交叉学科,计算社会科学融合了来自社会学、经济学、政治学等传统学科的研究方法和对象,并建立了一种全新的研究范式,从而给解决社会科学中的一些经典问题,如层次间分析、模型的可解释与可预测性的矛盾等问题,建构了新的方向。

机器人技术正以前所未见的速度与方式向前发展。以目前电子学,机械工程,软件工程的研究成果,辅以深度学习和机器智能领域的进步,机器人应用将蕴含巨大市场。TechX 的机器人课程在 2020 年迎来了全面升级。本课程将计划首次引入大疆 Robomaster S1 机器人,该机器人具有强大的性能和可开发能力,学员可以通过其内置的各类人工智能模块实现创新的人工智能机器人。除了Robomaster S1 机器人,课程还包括了丰富的嵌入式开发模块,包括 Arduino 及树莓派套件。在帮助学员学习动手开发机器人的同时,课程还将带给学员完整的机器人学理论知识,并结合现阶段机器人各领域的进展与挑战,分析研讨从学界理论到工业应用的经典案例。在十天的理论学习和动手实践后,学员将在导师的带领下以小组的形式完成具有创意的毕业项目。

电子游戏是技术进步所诞生的娱乐方式。游戏制作人则是用技术的突破将画面,音乐,故事相结和,从而创造出能让玩家沉浸于其中,去感受,去发掘,去宣泄自己情感的虚拟世界。这么说来,游戏制作人在某种意义上也扮演着造物主,织梦师一类的角色。 TechX游戏设计开发课程将同时顾及电子游戏的交互性和艺术性。课程将涵盖游戏设计的方方面面,包括 Unity 技术, 美术素材和音效制作以及游戏关卡设计技巧和交互体验设计要点。学员将有机会设计多个游戏作品,包括个人开发,团队开发和黑客赛形式,从而学习到游戏开发从策划到试玩反馈等多个重要节点的宝贵经验。

二十世纪初以来,对“基因密码”核酸和“功能单位”蛋白质的研究便从未停歇,而分子生物学试图理解这些生物大分子之间的结构、功能与关系。它建立在基因学、生物化学、物理学、数学之上,旨在探索生命在分子层面的构架与相互作用,以及这些相互作用如何影响细胞,组织,系统,和整个机体的运作。自诞生以来,从理论应用和实验技术上,它都对生物各领域有巨大作用。步入二十一世纪,分子生物学也被寄予了更多的期待,从“基因剪刀”CRISPR到分子靶向抗肿瘤药物都可以看到这门学科的身影。本课程旨在引领学员探索细胞日常运作背后的分子机理,增强学员的实验操作技能,培养学员对分子生物学的兴趣。

相较于传统生物学,认知神经科学,一个20世纪标志性的新兴研究门类,在近几十年引起了学者们的广泛关注。它专门研究神经系统的结构、功能、发育、演化、生理、药理及病理,旨在揭示人脑及中枢神经的工作机制,以探索生命心智的起源、过程和活动。心智是脑和神经的功能,而脑与心智之间的桥梁就是认知。随着计算机X射线断层摄影(CT)、功能性核磁共振成像(fMRl)等多种技术广泛用于研究,脑和神经科学的发展也在其内部孵化出许多交叉学科,包括认知心理学,神经语言学,脑进化等。本课程旨在引领学员探索这一新兴学科及其广泛潜能与应用,包括神经生物及认知心理学基础知识,通过实验理解大脑与神经系统的解刨及感知觉加工等机制,并探讨当下热门尖端神经科学交叉性话题如AI、人机交互的理论与观点。

“生命“作为地球文明已知最复杂的活动机制,以其叹为观止的精密吸引着人类无限的探索热情。随着人类全基因组的建立与基因测序技术的飞速发展,大量数据源源不断地产生,使数据分析成为解锁人类基因组奥秘的关键。因此,一门由生物学、数据科学与计算机科学交叉形成的新兴学科——生物信息与计算学崭露头角。以数据为媒介,算法为手段,生物信息与计算学通过对基因序列的检索、对比与深度分析,揭示其中蕴含的生物学意义。从遗传突变定位到新药靶点筛选;从个体化医疗到健康大数据;生物信息与计算学正不断为各前沿领域提供新的研究思路与方法。TechX 与中科院资深学者(或斯坦福学者)合作,搭建全新“生物+信息+计算”课程框架——通过讲授生物数据库建立、R 语言数据分析及可视化相关工具,穿插并行序列对齐算法,隐形马尔科夫链,与GSEA-基因富集分析等算法的介绍,旨在让学生掌握数据挖掘和运用算法解决生物问题的能力。

The interaction between humans and machines is never as important as of today. Since the birth of the computer systems, the scientists have been devoting their lives looking for ways to communicate with the metal box. From the punched cards, command lines, graphical user interface, mouse and keyboard, and other interaction methods, we have now entered an extremely mobile and interactive era, signified by the emergence and prevalence of touch screens. As we break through the technological thresholds in speech interaction, somatosensory interaction, and even brain–computer interface, every field, including phones, cars, games and VR, is looking to create a more positive (or active) interaction between humans and machines, for the higher efficiency of the information exchange. In TechX HCI, we will bridge the theoretical basis in the interdisciplinary subjects with project implementation, introducing the students to the world of interface design, user experience design, creative computation and digital fabrication, as well as training their design thinking.

What can computation add to human communication? Creating computer applications, instead of just using them, will give you a deeper understanding of the essential possibilities of computation. The course focuses on the fundamentals of programming the computer (variables, conditionals, iteration, functions, and objects) and then touches on some more advanced techniques such as image processing, computer vision, data parsing and 3D graphics. The Java-based 'Processing' programming environment is the primary vehicle for the class. The class will assume no programming experience at all. 行在城市街头,又或飞在云端俯视,你是否曾思考,是什么塑造了如此兼具功能与美观的设计产物,是什么造就了眼前的宏伟壮丽的人类奇观?建筑,作为生活中必不可缺的一部分,不仅提供了人类学习,工作,娱乐的场所,某种程度上说,更是我们的生活本身。我们在建筑里欢笑,哭泣,坠入爱河,所有的爱与恨、所有的人类历史都在这个优美的容器中进行。作为人类历史上最早的学科之一,建筑学融合了设计学、艺术、工程学等学科,经过层层设计与迭代最终为世界创造出兼具美感和功能性的场所。
人类的基因自带着建筑学,从原始的草棚开始,我们就开始设计建筑;200 年前的工业革命带来了钢铁, 人类从此可以挑战摩天大厦;100年前,建筑师们开始构想如何设计未来的乌托邦;现在的我们,借由参数化设计和人工智能等新型建筑,则可以打破传统建筑设计的限制,让想象力更加自由地驰骋,开始畅想火星移民的未来。

An unprecedented Capstone Project

An unforgettable Hackathon

"Capstone Hackathon" will be hosted in the last few days of TechX. Students form teams with fellow peers and apply the knowledge they acquired during the past 10 days. The project could be a technological device, a refined algorithm, or an innovative video game. Under a specific time frame, students push their creative boundaries by innovating. This sets students up for success in other collegiate level competitions.

Cangjie Pro

Cangjie Pro is a handwritten font generator based upon machine learning. It creates customized texts with fonts similar to handwritten words by analyzing 800 or so handwritten words. The group used Python Flask to build a Web server that creates human-server interaction and data transmission. Then they used Python to split the handwritten words into characters to train a model that imitates the style of writing while generating new content.

Blind++

Blind ++ is a wearable device that helps blind people find their way. Blind ++ can accurately and quickly detect common obstacles in the surrounding environment using computer vision graphics and machine learning. Voice recognition and semantic understanding enable a precise match between the environment and the object the person seeks. The device then relays the direction of the object by broadcasting words via sound back to the person.

Know U creates the perfect virtual environment for different people to relax by analyzing human heart rates, brain waves, cortisol, and other data to determine the emotional state of people. Based upon a vast biotech database, it can create a comprehensive model to analyze human emotions and generate a calm environment. The scene might be a forest brook, plain, or bedroom.

The ideal environment

ShanghaiTech University was jointly established by the Shanghai Municipal People's government and the Chinese Academy of Sciences. The campus is situated in an incubator renowned for nourishing talented individuals--Pudong Zhangjiang Hi-tech Park. The modern campus architecture is designed by Moore Ruble Yudell and accomplished artists from MIT, Carnegie Mellon University, and the University of California, Berkley.

In preparation for TechX 2020, we would base entirely new classrooms in the Innovation Center of ShanghaiTech University. The four-levels-high structure houses four innovative laboratories: "Micro-Nano Satellite Design", "Multi-purpose Digital Space", "Application and Development of Machines", and "Application and Development of Drones". The main floor includes studios for "Computer Numerical Control", "Machine Automation", "Digital Manufactoring", and "Environmental Simulation Tests". 3D printers, laser cutters, mechanical engraving machines, and lathes are just some of the cutting-edge technology available for students to use. This facility is a perfect combination of an open workspace and an independent discussion site that helps students reach their full potential.
